If there's a better Barlow around, I haven't found it yet! Combining it with a 5mm Takahashi eyepiece on a Tak 4" refactor, it gives an image superior to many straight 2-3 mm eyepieces used by themselves. Highly recommended.

The TeleVue Barlows (I also have the X3) must be the best kept secrets and best value for money around. Try them with the 12mm Nagler4 and 16mm Nagler2: You get 4 extra Nagler eyepieces (3mm and 6mm Nagler4 and 4mm and 8mm Nagler2) for better eye relief at less than a quarter of the cost! Very highly recommended.

This is the one Barlow to have if you can only buy one. I mostly use mine with short focal length Radians for planetary observing, but I've tried it with a number of other eyepieces as well. The best thing I can say about the TeleVue Barlow is that it multiplies your magnification without adding any artifacts or abberations and does not degrade the performance of the eyepiece at all. It's like there's nothing there but the eyepiece. The only disadvantage I can think of is that this is about the most expensive Barlow on the market, and yet it's much cheaper than most premium eyepieces.

This Barlow is fantastic! I used it with my 8-24 zoom to observe the Moon.It gave sharp,contrasty images through my Pronto-lots of craters!I also used it with my 4.8mm Nagler which gives me 200x magnification.The famous"double double" Epsilon Lyrae was a piece of cake.Bright stars showed textbook images of an airy disc and diffraction rings every time.Al Nagler deserves a knighthood!

A very clean barlow, but certainly not 4 times better than the cheap shorty barlows.
It vignettes long focal length eyepieces just as badly as the cheaper barlows.
A truly wonderful barlow that is impossible to tell its there is the 2 inch Orion 2x Barlow.
I have used this with long focal length eyepieces with absolutely no vignetting or edge abberations.
It is much larger, of course. I find I never use barlows anymore (I did when I started out).
Just too much trouble compared to using another eyepiece.

Great barlow. Shows some vignetting with longer fl ep's, but this is to be expected. I compared the 15mm tv plossl barlowed with a 7mm ep and views were identical. I prefered the barlowed combo for the more comfrtable eye relief. Great light transmision and excelent contrast.
