Fast reflectors suffer from coma, no matter who the manufacturer is. As far as being too bright for the galaxy, that is not the fault of the eyepiece. Any 32mm will be the same. The 17 performs better because you are raising the magnification, which blackens the area around the galaxy, thus increasing the contrast. >This plossl is too bright (background too light gray) for my 10" 1200mm f/4.7 dob. The same dim galaxy (m65/m66) I can see in my 17mm highlight will not show in my 32mm. The same goes for M81, M82. There is a slight coma effect around the outer 10% of the lens. Other than this, the eyepiece is wonderful. For my urban setting, it just won't do, but for dark sky, it might be great, as it lets in a lot light, having just 4 pieces of glass.
