>Wow what an eyepiece! eyerelief is a little overpowering but not that hard to get used to. great widefield views of the great star clusters. the dbl cluster & the pleades are unbelievable! great eyepiece!

Is this talking about the original 5 element Made in Japan (NOT China) "Smoothie" Meade 56mm Super Plossl with metal knurled grip or the newer 4 element Made in Japan (NOT China) Meade Super Plossl 56mm with rubber grip or the even newer Made in China 4 element Meade Super Plossl 56mm?

>Views are crisp, right to the edge. Eye relief is way to large. Too many black out areas. It is very hard to obtain the right distance to hold your eye. I felt like my head was constantly moving in and out and back and forth to find the view. Once I had to the view I had to hold my head very steady to keep it.

>Awful! A no-contest when compared to the TeleVue 55mm. Even the Panoptic 35mm with a reducer displays superior images. A giant kidney-bean is obvious no matter wher you place your eye, and it's very off-putting! Aberration is also a severe problem with my sample, no matter which scope I've tried it in. My recommendation is to buy the wonderful Panoptic 35mm, and be satisfied with the (only slightly) narrower field of view. There's no comparison!

>This is the first eyepiece I put into my 12" LX-200. I enjoy the spacewalk with it. Good weight to performance ratio.

>Using a f7 6" newtonian/TV102/SCT 8" celestron, I found this eye piece to be of above average for quality. View of mercury/venus/moon showed slight aberation of color. Stars are sharp to the edge. Contrast is excellent. Eye relief is very poor, infact I would say the experience is similar to looking through a straw. I paid about $95.00 for the ep. Advice: I would save some $$ and buy the 3000 series if you want the high power Meade Plossl.
