Orion Sirius Plossl 17mm
Good value but the views are a little soft around the edges. Brightness
is OK. Oh, I had problems barlowing this with the Celestron Ultima Barlow. It's too wide! Eyerelief is OK, though, a bit on the short side.

I've had no problems with this eyepiece. Using it with the Short Tube 80 (Actually, Celestron's 80EQ WA, same scope), and it works fine. Also, had no trouble using it with Celestron's Ultima barlow, as the other reviewer did. Not perfect, but pretty good for a $50 Plossl.

Orion Sirius Plossl 17mm
Excellent views with good contrast. Seem to be well made. Eye relief is only good, not extreme. Considering the cost and performance, a pretty good deal.

Orion Sirius Plossl 17mm
The best EP in the Sirius range in my opinion..good (13mm) eye relief and barlows well. Nice and bright.. but 'slight' softness at the edges...great {barlowed) for planets on my f8 6" refractor.
For the price a bargain!!

Orion Sirius Plossl 17mm
My Discovery Dob came with two crappy EPs: brand X 10 and 25mm Plossls. I bought an Orion 17mm to be an in-between size and occasionally use it with a Celestron Ultima Barlow (without any problems). I find it to be pretty sharp and contrasty. It is far superior to the supplied EPs. Generally, I find these Sirius Plossls to be good performers at a good price. Sometime later, I replaced the brand X Plossls with UO orthos. Had I tried them first, I would have gotten an 18mm U.O. ortho instead of the Plossl. They are about the same price, use less room in the case, and give sharper images. Still, no complaints.

Orion Sirius Plossl 17mm
No complaints. It's probably the best deal in E.P's, period. I would have to say that the performance you get out of it, you would've paid twice as much if it had Celestron or Meade as the brand. I'm glad someone out there provides great value to consumers. If you're willing to spend a couple of hundred bucks on a single E.P., for slightly better performance and you live on a farm with no light pollution whatsoever, then maybe it'll be worth it. For city folks like me, forget it. The Sirius will do just fine. Works well with Barlows Too.

Orion Sirius Plossl 17mm
Excellent eyepiece, beautifully shows planetary ring effect clearly when used with a deep yellow filter on Saturn, also enhances the actual rings around the planet with Cassini's division very clearly shown. When used with a 2X Barlow, the EP will lose some contrast and clarity though...but only marginally.

Orion Sirius Plossl 17mm
One of the best deals out there. You won't even know that it was single multi-coated. Like Ed Ting said, it's well worth it. The images are sharp. I could tell the difference between this and Meade 4000 EP. Let's keep it a secret or else the price will go up!!

Orion Sirius Plossl 17mm
Sharp images and good FOV (52 degrees). Interior is well blackened for good contrast, and the field stop appears sharply focused unlike some other Ep's, and the eyepiece is well built with fold down eyecups and a rubber grip. Great value for the money.

Orion Sirius Plossl 17mm
I think it is a very good eyepiece! The FOV is corrected and the eye relief is good. The first time I used it I thought it was a Meade Super Plossl!

Orion Sirius Plossl 17mm
This is a very well made EP and well worth the money. I bought it for my Orion 120ST, and it seems to be the perfect EP for that scope. Works very well in 8" dob.
I have tried it with the Orion 2x Shorty Plus barlow with acceptable results, although the image through the dob was much better. But you would expect that...

I suspect that since Orion has introduced a new line of Plossls in their latest catalogs (and dropped prices on the Sirius) that these are being phased out.

Orion Sirius Plossl 17mm
A decent player! Quality is more than you'd guess, image quality (both contrast & colour) is really very good. E.P. is light weight, well made, very little fringing or aberration. A good addition to the beginners collection, one you'll probably want to keep around.

Orion Sirius Plossl 17mm
The 32mm and 25mm are the best of the Plossl line. Bright images, decent field of view, and good eye relief. When you drop below 25mm, the eye relief starts to get a little short. Below 10mm the eye relief is negligable - to the point where I won't use them even if I won them.
