Celestron Ultima 9x63
Views are clear to the edge, images are very bright and they are light and easy to hold. They are a bit delicate but a good trade off because of the reasonable price.

The 5.4° field provides a very bright sharp image. They seem to be a good alternative to the 10X50 size binoculars. I bought them instead of the 10X50 for the larger aperture. I also need to wear my glasses when viewing and the large eye relief (21mm I believe) makes it very comfortble to view through these binoculars. The only draw back is they are a little to heavy for hand hold and I have to use a tripod when out for an observing session.

Although I'd like to observe through my 9x63's without my glasses, my vision is poor enough that I can't bring them to focus without my specs. Regardless, the eye relief is comfortable with the glasses. The views are sharp across the field, with no stray reflections visible even when viewing the moon. These are nicely baffled, which you can see looking down the business end of the binocs in daylight. At 9X, a tripod provides much steadier, i.e. pleasing, views. Unfortunately, this limits usefulness directly overhead. I like the Ultima series, but if I were to do it over, would probably go with the 7x50 for lighter weight and steadier views.

Celestron Ultima 9x63
Very nice pair of binocs with a few caveats:

The body seems a little lightly built (they are already too heavy to hand hold in my opinion so a little more ruggedness would be welcome). Mechanically the focuser is smooth but not great, the eps ocassionally bind when "out" focusing and the center bolt was not tight enough to maintain interpupilary distance when horizontal.

The color correction is good for non-ED binos. The resolution is also good IMO - a prior poster could not resolve planets into disks, I have no problem with getting a disk when aligned on axis (both my eye and the binos) but cannot see any detail - probably more a question of magnification than resolution. Extremely well baffled with very good contrast. Can just barely detect a squareness in the 4 trapezium stars (cannot split any cleanly - again the 9X mag probably the culprit). Glorious on the milky way in dark skies.

I've been quite pleased with them. Again, I'm not sure what the previous poster saw, but Jupiter's disk was easy, and Saturn showed a noticable oval shape.
I have found a slight coma at the extreme edge, but not terribly significant. All in all, they provide the best viewing I've done on dim extended objects - providing me with my first (though not last) views of M1 and M33.

I suppose the weight is really the biggest issue - if you get these binocs, definitely get a tripod. Your arms will thank you, and your eyes will see at least another 1.5 magnitudes.

Celestron Ultima 9x63
A bit flimsy...not a bino to abuse! Optical quality is superb on my pair. Very light and comortable, minimal field curvature and false color. Very bright, with lots of light grasp. Very hand holdable for me, although some of my friends have found them difficult to control. If the costruction were more robust, I would rate them 9 or 10.

The contrast of the 9x63's is outstanding! After all, contrast is the single most important consideration when determining the optical quality of a device such as this. Sharpness would be the second most important feature and these do well in this catagory also. Overall, I must rate these binoculars as being very well made and enjoyable to use.

I particularly enjoy the bright & contrasty views while observing dim fuzzies of various sorts. Also, the combination of wide FOV, magnification, and hand-holdability make these my favorite astronomy binoculars.

In my old arsenal of equipment I replaced a 30+ year old 7x50 magnesium body with this 9x63. I am glad I did. The 9x63 is lighter (35 oz.) which is light for such large binoculars. Anything heavier may require a tripod.
Todd Gross is accurate about the images. They are not crisp at the edge, but that is typical of most binoculars. Contrast is very good and central sharpness is very good or better. Color correction is excellent. Deep sky views are very impressive.
These are not flimsy, but not intended for rough abuse. This is not an issue because I take special care of all my scientific instruments. Focusing is smooth, and I use the separate right eye focusing for my weak eye. The only complaint I have about the mechanics is the flimsy front lens covers which easily fall off. However, this was easy to remedy.
The rubber eyecups are great. Eye relief is superb. (I don't wear glasses, however.) And I like they way they feel and handle.
If you are interested in planets, you should not bother with low power binoculars and get a telescope. Also, if you need a tripod for binoculars, move up to a higher power and larger diameters. This 9x63 is ideal for quick views where you don't want bother setting up a tripod. I'm lazy and this fits me fine for zero setup time!
I bought these from Adorama for $285. They are worth the price and Adorama's web site is a pleasure to use.

Celestron Ultima 9x63
Very bright and clear most of the field of view. Super light for binoculars this size. Great bargain for the money. Hard to beat for mini-giants in their price range. Celestron has very fair warranty protection.

Optics are Excellent, light for their size.
just and all around good pair of Binoculars.
I can hold the with no problems, but perhaps
a tripod would be a good option for some people.

Celestron Ultima 9x63
Very sharp image. Excellent contrast. Very efficient optics. Far superior to a well known brand of roof prism 9x63's I own which cost more than twice what I paid for the Celestrons. I just wish they focused closer than 30', than I wouldn't need to take other bino's with me when I travel.

Celestron Ultima 9x63
The celestron ultima 9x63 was my choice to replace my old 7x35 bushnell. My motivation was stargazing but with a multi purposes possibilities such as bird watching. I must say I am proud of my choice with ultima 9x63 and my friends as well after an evening spent stargazing without tripod. Perfect eye relief and comfortable with eye glasses. Many astronomers I have consulted did approved my choice 100%.
