Zeiss Jena Jenoptem 7x50 WA
Excellent binoculars for astronomy. Very sharp objectives and excellent coatings. Star images are a lot better than in most ru of the mill bak 4 binos.
In a dark sky these binoculars give stunning contrast and reach very deep.
Three minor gripes. One the balsam between objective elements in a lot of Zeiss Jena binoculars made in the 80's is prone to form small(less than 1 mm)zones which appear silver when looking at objectives. It does'nt affect performance but i have seen it in a lot of the later Jenoptems.
Second fault is the lack of eye relief but it is still comfortable.

The third the binoculars while well built have a tendency to stray in collimation. the prisms slip. They do not like rough handling. protect them well if you ship them.

The Jenoptems are sharp over about 90 % of the field. the baffling and image quality is excellent.

$150-200US???

snap them up if you get them for that price.

These are superb binoculars close to the best ever made. A joy to use with extremely sharp contrasty optics.

Made to last and something to hang onto.
