Sony STR-DA50ES
when I recently moved the system and reconnected the subwoofer remained mute despite the power LED working. I subsequently checked the coaxial lead between amp and woofer and that was OK. Any other thoughts?

Sony STR-DA50ES
I've just recently purchased the Sony 50 ES, the receiver is wonderful but I have to agree with everyone else on the remote. It looks nice and the concept was great but, it just doesn't perform well. You have to almost point the remote at the receiver for it to perform a command. Allot of steps are involed when trying to perform simple tasks. I purchased it for only $399 on an Air Force Base in Japan so, I can't really complain overall.

Sony STR-DA50ES
Just picked up the STR DA50ES in Italy price about 1,800,000 Italian Lire approx equal to 900 US dollars give or take the exchange rates. System is married to the Sony DVP-s7700, works great very happy. Totally agree with the remote problems though at least once a-day shut the system down by just picking up the remote - dohhh. Agree with all the statements as regards this A/V against the yamaha's but the price beats them hand down and the looks. The sound quality is superb hooked up to the Jamo A330PDD.3 5 speaker system with the sub, sound sounds great at all volumes a bit of a problem in the condo though. Overall 8.5

Sony STR-DA50ES
Hi, I have STR-DA50ES and ironically the same thing has happened to me, as to pm5-113.lex.infi.net except the unpleasant service. My receiver blinked Protection, after I hooked my new surround speakers up. I pushed the power button; however, it would not turn back on. Should I sending the receiver to the Sony Regional Repair Center, or any other factory authorized repair center?

Sony STR-DA50ES
I think Sony agrees on the TP-501 being a pain, becouse i got a few remotes off my dad who works at sony, and sony simply dumped the SOB's.. I dont have professional equipment like y'all do, i have a simple MHC-W55, which is a mini hi-fi component thingy (which i might add also has a lot of drawbacks) and i cant turn the silly thing off with the remote! That really bugs me becouse it does work with all my other equipment, even my age old panasonic vcr. But as i said i dont have high end equipment like all of u.. One suggestion, even though it lacks some ability of basic controls, you can make your teenage son/daughter/cousin happy with this, i have 2 of these, i'm gonna regularly use one of them and reprogram the other, meaning soldering out the ROM chip and putting some of my own code in.. I dont have the money to buy cool equipment like u ppl so i have to improvise and sometimes that gives more pleasure then actually using the equipment.. Oh yeah, it doesnt control my Sony TV, wierd? no not really, it doesnt have infrared, it has "sonic" remote (age-old).. meh.. :-p

Sony STR-DA50ES
I am Luis from Portugal.
I just bought a Sony STR-DA50ES and I just observed the following facts:
First: When I put the speakers selector to OFF the pre-out rca connections become mute.
I have a pair of Mirage 7 loudspeakers and the power amplifier has not enough strengh to drive them. So I would like to power my loudspeakers with an outside power amplifier which is impossible because of this fact
So I can't use any outside power amplifiers because I have no signal to drive them on. I don't understand what are the pre-out rca connections doing there.
Second: The backlight of the remote control is insuficient to light the panel and in dark places we can see almost nothing. It's very difficult to work with that remote.
The rest of the functions seem enough and the receiver sounds good.

If anyone has some knowlege about these problems email me a help message:
