After seeing all those UO eyepieces rated elsewhere, it seems hard to believe that nobody rated UO itself. Well, here it is. I've delt twice with UO in as many months and both times they answered all my questions very quickly and were easy to talk to. Thus far all the items I've received have been of high quality and the prices are very reasonable to boot. They seem to be hard to get ahold of in the morning (phone is always busy), but in the afternoons I've been anble to get straight through without difficulty.

Ordered the 25 and 40 mm 2" Konig. Fast service, great eyepieces. Only complaint is they don't take on-line orders. But hey, I'm fax-capable too.

My 8" Dob came with two iffy quality occulars. I wanted to replace the 10mm supplied piece with one good for planets. I talked to OU who asumed me that orthos were superior to Plossls for planets. I ordered the 12mm ortho. It arrived US mail the NEXT DAY. Excellent eyepiece. Higher contrast and better eye relief than even good Plossls. Tack sharp to the edge of the field. Also, it lost no clarity in the Barlow. (I saw last night that Jupiter's Red Spot is actually red.) It came with dust caps on each end. Since then I bought a 25mm ortho from them. Outstanding contrast and sharpness. These orthos are great. I have no idea why they have lost popularity. I think they are the best 4-element eyepieces available at any price. Also, they were less than $60 each. A great bargain.

I have several of the the U.O. ortho's and they are fantastic on the planets,even better than my TV plossls(sorry Al).Mr.Seyfried is a excellent business man and in my experiance has the best customer service in the business(VERY PROMPT).I had 1 EP a 5mm Ortho that had a strange air bubble in 1 of the lens when i contacted Mr.Seyfried about this he responded by saying no problem return it for exchange,no questions asked!(try getting that from celestron or meade).Thank You Mr.Seyfried.Folk save yourselfs some money and give these U.O. EP's a try,you won't regret it!

Purchased a 7 x 50 Amici prism finder from UO a few years ago. Very pleased.
Staff answered all questions I had on phone and were polite and courteous.
Would buy there again.

Excellent. I ordered a 40mm Konig and an 18mm Ortho and they arrived within days despite having to cross through Canadian Border Customs to get to me. The products were simply but effectively packed to prevent possible damage. I have no complaints whatsoever and would do business with them again.

Great. I ordered the 4mm ortho, it was shipped immediately and I had it in 3 days, well packed. Also a great EP, by the way; for 60 bucks, I can't for the life of me tell the difference from my friend's Pentax ortho...Their prices can't be compared to anyone else because their own stuff isn't available elsewhere, but this EP was certainly a bargain.

I have been ordering from University Optics for more than twenty-five years and it is still my favorite vendor. Evey eyepiece that I have gotten from them has fullfilled or exceeded my expectations. Proof once again that the small, independent businessman can provide a higher quality product for a lower price than the bigger outfits. I don't mind ordering over the phone. There's something to be said for the good old-fashioned way of doing business. You get good old-fashioned service.

I had to deal with Mr. Seyfried a couple of times. He's very polite and correct on the phone, and recently he's found the email way also.
I ordered a Klee a couple of months ago, but it had some dirt in the optics, which I only recently discovered (I wasn't able to use the Klee until very recently). After one day came the response to my question if it could be returned/exchanged. That was no problem, but he suggested, to save postage to have someone else do it (I live in the Netherlands, quite far from the USA.. quite expensive in shipping also :)), for my troubles, he offered a reduction on my next item I'd order. Coincidently, I was just musing about an MK-70 eyepiece. :)
It's a pleasure to deal with this company.

My eyepiece case is full of UO orthos & konigs. Can't beat the performance for the price. An excellent value!! Service from Mr. Seyfried is always fast, friendly and helpful. I plan to build my next Newtonian from UO components.

Jan the owner there is great on service and very knowledgable about astronomy equipment such as eyepieces. It took less than 2 weeks to get my brand new eyepieces , packed just great , no damage at all. Jan has very good low prices andexcellent quality eyepieces . Will buy from him everytime .
