I use the 22mm Panoptic in an 8" SCT, and it has become my "goto" eyepiece. Wonderful clarity, great contrast, and excellent eye relief (I don't wear glasses). Views of M42 and M37, for example are spectacular! Just a great EP!

TeleVue Panoptic 22mm
One of the best overall eyepieces on the market. Easy viewing, medium power, decent FOV, sharp optics, TV resale/quality. What more can you ask?

Amazing eyepiece in my Sky Mentor 12" F/5 scope.
Very small amount of astigmatism in my pristine figured optics.
I would recommend the 22 Pan to anybody because IMHO this eyepiece is a real winner !!!!

Wow! Very impressed with this hunk of glass! Got this on sale and almost felt so bad about it I wanted to send Al some extra money! Super sharp, crisp, bright images in my 10" f/4.5 dob. The 68 degree F.O.V. is almost more than the eye and brain can compute! This is my first in the focuser e.p.! You almost don't need a finder scope with this one! WOW! 1 pound weight may throw some scopes off balance but you'll get over it!

I was able to try one of the ep's in my TOA 130 as a "loaner". I personally find the Panoptic series to consistently outperform the Naglers in regards to image sharpness and contrast ; I actually preferred it to my Nagler 17 T4 for brightness and contrast on some faint dso's. I am waiting to test a Pentax 20 mm XW before I make a "buy" decision. It is , however , a very good eyepiece.

TeleVue Panoptic 22mm
Used in a 10" F/5,6 dob.

First time I looked through this, I involuntarily said 'Wow'. It definately has a very immersive feel to it. More so than the 24mm Panoptic. I think this was one of the sharpest EP i have ever used, all the way to the edge.

I didn't like the dual barrel. I didn't like the pincushion. I have used the 35 panoptic too and the 22 was worse in this distortion.

Good EP though, if weight isn't a factor though, a better deal would be a used 20mm T2 nagler I think.

The only problem with the 20mm Nag t2 is the weight. The EP is tack sharp to the edge @ f/4.7, but @ 2.3 LBS the scope
needs heavy re-balancing, and even then when you take out the 20 Nag T2, the scope wants to tip backwards.

I just snagged a 22mm Pan i place of the 20 Nag T2!
