TeleVue Nagler Type 6 13mm
Used in a 10" F/5,6 dob.

For a deep sky EP, it is a great deal, all the T6s are. I don't care for it as a planetary piece, i always saw a lot of lateral color. I also don't like the 12mm ER, BUT that is only a personal preference. But it was very sharp, nicely contrasty, good stuff.

I use a 14mm Pentax XW now in its place.

This is my favorite e.p. I use it in my 4.5 starblast. Xt6 and 10" Dob and get wonderfull views. Sure It is expensive but I believe its worth it for the quality you get in return,not to mention used they sell much cheaper in near new or new condition. If you own a starblast 4.5 dob try a 13t6 in it, most e.ps suffer badly in this scope from coma and other aberations but the 13 is awsome in it as well as the 9mm t6. Anyway this my most used e.p for all of my scopes.

TeleVue Nagler Type 6 13mm
I had been considering this EP for a while and after the recent price drop I got one straight away.

As soon as I bought it I was graced with one of those
wonderful nights in Britain when a cold front passes over and leaves a crystal clear sky after several days of cloud.

My impressions of this EP are similar to what most observers have reported on this site and others. With my 10 inch f4.7
Dob the stars are sharp almost to the field edge. After having used cheaper wide-field designs that have severe distortions in the outer 20-30%, the flat, sharp field is impressive.

Transmission and contrast are noticeably better than
in my Meade series 5000 plossls. The eye relief is just about acceptable to me. Contrary to other reports, I find that although I do need to move my head around to see the full field of view, I do not have to fold down the eye-cup or be so close that my eyelashes grease the lens. I also find that the kidney-beaning effect is not too intrusive for me, though it may make the EP less relaxing to use for some.

I bought this EP new for £194 which I believe represents good value for money. I gave a 10 rating for value because I believe that if it were possible to attain this quality at a lower price there would be a number of such products on the market, which there aren't. You never regret spending this much when you get a quality product but you do regret it when you buy poor quality items which cost less but leave you feeling you've wasted your money. Until I have funds for the £450 Ethos, this Nagler will be fine. It is since buying this eyepiece that I've started to really enjoy my Dob.

I agree with those who say that the Pentax XW has a 70* field and so is not comparable to the 82* Nagler. Also, in
the U.K. the Nagler is now only around 2/3 the cost of the Pentax.

One problem is that if your beloved finds out you spent £200 on an eyepiece she'll go out and spend £400 on shoes, so wipe the satisfied grin off your face the moment you come in from observing.

This is by far the best eyepiece in the 12 to 14 mm range that I have ever looked thru.Small,good eye relief,wide field of view,flat field and sharp to the field stop.What more could ask for.Go for it.

TeleVue Nagler Type 6 13mm
I have a pair of these that I use for medium/high power in my Mark V binoviewers. These work very well for planetary use and well as planetary nebula, small globular clusters and galaxies. NOTE: If you are going to use these in a Baader Mark V binoviewer, you need to add a parfocalizing ring where the barrel meets the body to make sure that they focus equally. I was able to compare them side to side to the venerable 12.5mm Docter UWA and these held their ground rather well. The Docters did seem to eek out just very slight bit more detail but the 13mm Naglers were much more easy to use as far as ergonomics are concerned. For binoviewing that is a must. Also, compared to the $650 a pop Docters, these guys are quite a bargain.
