B&K AVR 202
This is no toy with imaginary sound stages, etc. This is the real deal! I have never heard anything for music and movies that even comes close. I've always owned Yamaha equipment, so this was a difficult choice for me. I have moved my A1 into the bedroom and the 202 is now center stage in my HT room! A1 is great second choice but am I happy I did this!!

I recently purchased my AVR 202. I purchased this unit based on its abilty to reproduce what it is fed. This is a sonicly (real word?) awesome unit. The 202 sounded so much better than the Marantz, DSP1, and Sherwood I auditioned for my purchase I had to have it.

I bought mine for 150 bucks and my Pioneer rack sytem blows it away. I have two 16" in the boxes. My little AIWA sounds better....Ended up trading it for an RCA unit which rocks.

I have had my B&k for 2 years now and since I was coming from high end
separates, it was quite a pleasant suprise to find that the amp section
of this unit was more detailed and smoother than my hand made amplifer.
I love the switching capabilities and the 7 digital inputs which are almost
impossible to find on anything but the top of the line yamaha which has just
included that many recently. The manual sucks but it the receiver does what
I want it to do, mainly sound good and look elegantly understated at the same
time. It still is one of the best looking units out there. I have had no malfunctions from this unit and am pleased with the performance and the 5 year
warranty which comes with it. That's right folks 5 years and it's upgradable
too.

nothing is perfect, but the 202 does everything i've wanted it to do , mainly sound better than the high end hand made separates that I had in my system. I was actually shocked at how detailed this unit was and since I bought it because of its awesome switching capabilites ,I suprised to find out how good sounding it was as well. At 55 pounds, this is no light weight made in Japan receiver. It is elegant, menu is a bit plodding to go through, but very easy to set up, it's understated beauty grows with time. It does best what it's supposed to do, reporduce multi channel film the way it was recorded. I've had yamaha dsp units that sounded ok but were so gimmicky sounding that the only cinema modes I could use were the straight pro logic or DD. People have made comments previously about how good some of the yamaha dsp stuff is, and it became clear that they didn't actually do any critical comparison listening with controlled sources. I think it's hilarious that some people feel compelled to try and put down equipment just because they bought something else, and in the process trying to justify their own expenditures.

I agree.. B&K is the way to go!!
I've had my 202 for about 2 years and it sounds AWESOME!!!!
the Eagles ' Hell Freezes Over ' is incredible in DTS on the B&K

Has any one upgraded the motorola chipset to 7.1 (like the 307)???

As for Yamaha, any dust that accumulates in the receiver has a very bad and BIG IMPACT on the longevity life of the unit.
