Vixen Lanthanum Superwide 42mm
I don't know what the eyepiece's designer had in mind... reaching focus is difficult with a mewlon (and a 16" newton) and impossible with a vixen 80ED. The view is crisp, bright, very nice but the moon has a nice blue color... The field curvature is less than expected.

Vixen Lanthanum Superwide 42mm
I own the Vixen 42mm Superwide (made in Japan) and the Televue Panoptic 35mm (made in Taiwan) and I use them on a WO Megrez 80 f/6 and on a C9.25 f/10. Clarity and contrast are virtually the same. The lanthanum coating is clearly making a big difference. The Pan35 gives you slightly better magnification but a slightly lower FOV (64 vs 72) relative to the Vixen 42mm. I have used both for wideviews and they perform about the same. During the day or while looking at a full moon, the Vixen 42mm has slightly more color. I also like the eye shield better on the Vixen. On Astromart, the Vixen is $75 less than the Pan35. For the money I would keep the Vixen.
