TeleVue Nagler 9mm
The Tele Vue 9mm Nagler simply provides some of the best views I have ever seen of Jupiter and Saturn. Period. Wide view, sharp to the edge. Detail is as good as I have ever seen with any eyepiece. UO Konig? Huh? The 9mm exudes typical Tele Vue quality. It is one of the best eyepieces you can own.

TeleVue Nagler 9mm
An excellent eyepiece for moderately high powers in my scope. I own the Speers-Waler 10mm too. I find I use this eyepiece more. The field of view is noticablely wider and perhaps a little brighter (sharpness is about the same). Eye relief is just about at the lower limit for me though. Any less and I'd have eyelash oils all over the lens everytime I used it. There is noticable kidney bean distortion on the moon, but it doesn't come anywhere near what the 13mm has.

TeleVue Nagler 9mm
My most used eyepiece. Perfect eye relief for someone who does not wear glasses, contrasty views. Sharp edge to edge in my 8" f6 dob.

TeleVue Nagler 9mm
Great on Dobs but allot of mag for a SC. also tends to ghost with jupiter and the moon... Deep sky is great if the object is bright enough. Mine has not come out of my case since the 12mm t4..... Just better all around...

I used this one for a while. I traded it off after getting a Meade UWA 8.8mm Perhaps my Meade 8.8 is an unusually good eyepiece but it was sharper and had less ghosting than the Nagler.

TeleVue Nagler 9mm
This eyepiece performs very well with my 5" Apo. This is a very sharp eyepiece with a very wide field that gets a little mushy at the edges. i am lazy and can let the fov drift over there before I make corrections and love the luxury of this.
It is never very far away, and is used very often. That is the highest praise from me.
Kidney beans? I got used to them, the entire full moon or Sun in the field.. Also, a little chromatic aberration at the edges.
You will need to clean it, as the eye relief is barely adequate. One of my favorites. It is a TANK, though, eh? This is not the kind of eyepiece that you can just drop casually into your shirt pocket.
This one stays in my collection. Clear Skies!

TeleVue Nagler 9mm
I have a type 1, about 15 years old.Used this in my 12.5 yielding 150x. It was my favorite medium power EP. It is one of my favorites still. Good eye relief, contrast, and seems free of the annoying "kidney bean" effect that my 13 Negler has. Now I have a C11 which makes this my 300 power EP. On a good night when the seeing is steady, it gives nice, crisp images at 300.

WORD OF WARNING: Don't use 2in skirt in TV 2in diagonal; the 1 1/4 barrel bottoms out on the mirror! Now I have a nice ding on my Everbrite mirror. Al Negler is aware of this. Later versions apparently don't have this problem because the barrel has been shortened (I wonder why?)

TeleVue Nagler 9mm
Excellent med-high power eyepiece. Great in fast Newtonians as well as SCT's.
Delivers nice crisp images, and the wide field with the short focal length gives unparalled high-power images.

One thing I noticed was the effect this EP had in an SCT - almost like a wide-band filter. The sky in the 9mm is ink-black & had the effect of improving the contrast in my SCT. No other EP has been able to do that in my scope! Well worth the $220.

Excellent eyepiece but suffers eye relief when compared to Meade 8.8 UWA. I got rid of it in lieu of the Meade.

My most used eyepiece. Very contrasty and sharp to the edge. Eye relief is perfect for people not wearing glasses. Acceptable if you wear glasses. HUGE AFOV.

"Viewer-friendly"; very comfy to use. 500/5 Genesis + 9mm Nagler renders skies around bright objects kind of hazy. Overall: Wow.

TeleVue Nagler 9mm
The first time I looked through a 9mm Nagler I knew I had to get one. Having tried/owned many different eyepieces in the 12 years since then, I would say this is my favorite over-all eyepiece. I don't have to wear glasses so its 12mm eye relief is not a problem. It has a wide/easy to use eye lens. The dual 1.25/2.00-barrel is great if you have a 2.00-inch focuser. Both the true and apparent fields are amazingly wide (and sharp) for a medium to high power eyepiece. It gives you more of that space walk feeling than the 7mm Nagler. The kidney bean problem is so minor that I never noticed it until I read a review that mentioned it and then I had to look to find it.

TeleVue Nagler 9mm
By far my best high power eyepiece (mostly plossls). Use it for planetary nebs and Planets (8" LX200). Probably not as bright as a plossl, but the wide FOV makes up for it. Highly recomended.

TeleVue Nagler 9mm
10.5mm and 7mm Pentax are sharper and show more contrast. Can't see why Naglers are highly rated. The two I've tried, the 9mm and 22mm, were both major dissappointments. It's easier to see wide field with Panoptics, since you don't have to feel like you're peering around a corner to see the wide field.

TeleVue Nagler 9mm
I use this EP in my 150 f8 refractor.I have found it to be the most comfortable EP at this focal lenght to use. It does not offer the highest performance in the contrast and brightness stakes..but it is still very good. When it comes to sharpness it is superb..right to its 82 Degree edge.
As to the above comment 'user-vcavoq2' what scope are you using? I agree the Pentax EP's are brighter in use, but certainly not sharper.Disappointed with the Nagler 22..??

TeleVue Nagler 9mm
Seems to be made for my Starmaster 12.5 EL - views of globular cluster (especially M13, M3 and M5) seem to "pop out" and completely resolve. Eye relief is comfortable, but on the short side - but not bothersome. I am curious how the new Type 6 will be. Overall and excellent eyepiece.

TeleVue Nagler 9mm
The 9 is one of the classic Naglers, and maybe one of the classic eyepieces of our era. As nearly everyone else seems to have noted, it's got a tremendously wide field with little deterioration of sharpness except at the extreme edges. I've used mine, which I bought shortly after TeleVue began selling them, on scopes including TV Genesis, Cave 10" reflector, C-11, and A-P 5" and 6" apo's, and it's performed beautifully on all. The 9 is one of those pieces of equipment that just is "right"--I wonder if Al Nagler had something of about this focal length in mind when he first conceived the concept of the Naglers? It's a true workhorse in my lineup of eyepieces, one of the rare few that function equally well for seeing fine detail within Jupiter's bands or a good panoramic view of the Veil. While its weight could be an issue (mostly to users of smaller, lighter scopes, perhaps), and the relatively short eye relief may concern some eyeglass wearers, for me this eyepiece is the one I'd keep if I could keep only one.

TeleVue Nagler 9mm
This was the first Nagler I purchased in the late 1980's. It is the "Japan" version with no eyecup. I think this Nagler is a classic collectible, which I enjoy showing off to young astronomers. This "antique" commands respect: It is sharp across a flat field and gives great contrast. ER is 12 mm - my acceptable minimum. As for size and weight, it is one of the smaller of the early Naglers - much better than the Type 2's in this regard. I originally used it with my 8" C8 Plus and now use it often with my TV-85 on all objects.

TeleVue Nagler 9mm
Nice wide, sharp field. Good contrast (this was one of the recent models with the better coatings). Eye relief is a little limited but I can still use it with thin-lensed eyeglasses. I actually like the 2" skirt, as most of my other eyepieces have a 2" barrel. Distorted with very slight lateral color. This was previously my favorite eyepiece (before the type 4 Naglers and the Pentax SMC-XLs).
