Good price, excellent quality. And their economical in-store brand Pan-optics is simply marvelous, and very economical too. Although in some areas they are more expensive than others and their s/h can be exhorbitant.

They are in NY I am in Ontario Canada.
I wanted my item qucik so i paid extra for UPS
Took 5 business days instead of 3 go figure.
Sent me the wrong one. Called Adorama they said
sorry sorry. Took them an extra week before they sent out
the correct item. They sent it by US Mail UGGGgggggggggggg
been 8 business days so far and nuffin.

I ordered several Pentax Eyepieces. They had the absolute best prices on these. All but one was in stock and I recieved them within a week. One was out of stock and it took about a month to come in. The only aggravation was they could not give me any kind of estimated delivery date, It just arrived one day. I would not hesitate to order in-stock items from them. The quality is excellent and the savings are well worth it.

Fantastic pricing, good stock on hand, shipping is always prompt, and they do have some help on the staff but it is limited. Know what you want ahead of time when ordering, they seem to be in a hurry. It does end up being worth putting up with the typical New York attitude if you wish to save a few bucks. One of the main detractors I have not seen mentioned here is that they are closed on Saturdays. All in all, still one of my main "go-to" sites.

Stock availability info is non-existent on the website, so make sure you call ahead and find out if an item is in stock. I ordered a Sigma 14 lens (I've ordered over $1k from them already) and after two days, the order status on the website still said "Pick ticket printed." So I called in to ask what this meant, and the person said that it went to their shipping department. What they failed to tell me was that the lens is out of stock. :( I am considering cancelling the order.

On Jan 15, 2001 I ordered the Celestron Reducer/Corrector along with their vibration suppresion pads and a 72mm Tamron circular polarizer for my camera. All arrived One day after shipping. I'm in Delaware and this was their regular 3 day UPS charge of $9.15 which was reasonable considering what I saved on the Filter and RC alone. The only part that wasn't significantly discounted was the vibration pads at $39.95, but all around I feel they did me good! I ordered through their web site as they have un-advertised specials that can be icing on the cake. Obviously you should use these stores only when you know exactly what you want and the price savings is considerably below what you can get the same item from your local astronomy store (if you have one, even).

When I say "10," I mean in the sense that I try them first -- I have bought dozens of things with no memorable problems. They are abrubt but will not lie to you like some Brooklyn NY places. They have always done what they say.

Know what you want in advance, and ask if it is in stock, and you will be fine. Their prices are always the lowest legitimate price I can find on anything. I recommend them for expert purchasers -- but not for people that need hand-holding by any means. I get equal service from B+H, but higher prices.

Once I got through to a sales associate, they were very helpful, indicated they had the item in stock and would be shipping immediatly. I received the item in Los Angeles three days later. It was software. Given the price, I was extremely happy with my dealings with them.

As a side note, once the order process was under way, the sales representative turned out to be a pretty nice guy. If you have ordered from these outfits in NYC before, you know that is not always the norm.

Cant be beat on prices. You should know what you want and ask if it is in stock. A phone call is normally worth the effort since they will beat their web prices. Curt to the point service. I have ordered a couple of t4 naglers , paracorr, powermate etc and they saved me a bunch. Items were shipped promptly. S&H are on the higher side. Will order again.

Also, know your salesman extn and remind him you are a repeat customer, if you order again.

The best prices around. I bought a 21mm Pentax XL. I received it a bit over a week later so I was a bit disappointed and it appears that they may have taken their time to ship the product. But it was well packaged. I should add that though Adorama order folks are not telescope-experts, the guy I dealt with was very efficient, friendly and courteous so I have no complaints about service on the phone -- just delivery delay.

Live in Southamerica, buy several Televue eyepieces and Telrad
by means of a friend.
There was a mistake in packaging and two Radian 14mm were sent to me
instead of one 14mm and one 3mm.
10000km far away I opened the box and became "a little" surprised / anxious.
Email Izzy telling him that although I wanted to change it it would take
a couple of months to take it back there.
No problem! they say. And forgive us for the mistake.
That's service.

No problems at all. I had to wait a while for them to get the "telescope guy", but when he showed up he was knowledgeable and helpful. Prices can't be beat, especially on Pentax XL's, which is what I bought. I presume they can do this because they appear to move alot of Pentax photographic equipment. I go to this place in person so I can't comment on their phone service, shipping charges, or delivery time.

As a foreigner it is very hard to get good service and good price. I bought from Adorama a Tele Vue Radian 18 mm eyepiece. Shipping was very fast and the shipping fee very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Being one that has never had a lot of luck with NY foto stores, I was hesitant to order from Adorama, however they had what I wanted at a great price so I decided to give them a try. Outstanding on-line service. I placed the order and received shipping confirmation the next afernoon. Since that order (a year ago)I have placed 6 additional orders without any problems. Shipping rates are very reasonable, items are very well packaged, and Items are shipped quickly. One item was out of stock and they notified me via e-mail the same day the order was placed. I asked for a substitution and received a reply and confirmation within 2 hours. One of the best on-line systems I have encountered.

I've had one one problem, and that was ten years ago. I ordered a Zuiko 18mm lens, was charged $400+ for it. The price was competitive. The lens wasn't in stock, so it didn't arrive "any time soon." That's okay, but I've already been charged. Well, I know that most N.Y. stores do that so I didn't gripe. More time passed, still no lens. I called to check on the order, no delivery time could be given, which is actually better than telling me it's on its way or making up a date to keep me from canceling the order, as some stores have been known to do. I waited about three more weeks, and finding the lens in stock elsewhere, I called back to check on the one I had already paid for. If a delivery date was known, I was going to wait. If not, I would cancel the order. They could not give me a delivery date (that's okay, I haven't got to the gripe yet), so I asked to cancel the order and return the $400+ back to my VISA account.

Now the gripe--it took more than two weeks to credit that money back to my account, meanwhile, I'm not only paying interest, but since my card is nearly maxed-out, I have to wait two weeks before I can order the lens from another store.

I am professional photographer, and I spend a lot of money at these N.Y. mail order stores. In the last twenty years, I have come to depend on three of them--Adorama, Focus, and B&H.

That glitch with Adorama was the only real problem I've had with any of those three, and I know how to prevent it from happening again. Still, it shouldn't have happened.

My order came incomplete: the SCSI card that was sold in one package with expensive film scanner was missing. I already called them two times about the problem but they just seem to give me promises and do nothing. I don't know if I will ever get the card from them. They have great web site, but if something goes wrong with the order you'll really see how much their customer service sucks!

I like this store. They have the best prices and can be bargained with if necessary. They have knowledgeable people on staff but you got to know who to talk to. The sales people are at first quick and to the point(place is very busy) but I have found after several purchases from them the sales people have warmed up and are quite nice(I usually deal with the same person since I have developed a relationship). I have tried to deal with other stores (i.e. Astronomics and Oceanside) and have had less customer service from them than I care to have. It is worth the savings.
