I wasn't really very excited about the Radian EP's when they were first announced by Televue. I had my big collection of Naglers, Panoptics, Plossls, Konigs, Orthos and more. I just wasn't sure if Radians filled any need in my collection. Then I had an opportunity to pick up a 6mm Radian for a good deal. What a pleasant surprise! I am now convinced that for EP focal lengths shorter than 10mm, nothing comes close to the Radian design. This EP is an absolute pleasure to use.

I am not quite as impressed by the Radian 6 as I hoped I would be. I have had a chance to look through an older Clave Plossl and the Clave is definitely sharper, which is to be expected, but it puts the Radian in its place. Does the wider field make the eyepiece worth the money? Probably. Still a nice eyepiece that gives almost "as good as it gets views" of Saturn, Jupiter, etc.

It provides superb views of Jupiter and Saturn (on calm nights) with my 8" f/10 LX200 Classic.

TeleVue Radian 6mm
I've had this Radian (my first) for a couple of months now, It's used primarily with my 10" f/4.8 dobsonian which gives it 200x. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I can honestly say that this eyepiece blows me away. What I especially like about it is the nice eye relief, coupled with the 60 degree field of view, sharp across the whole field. My nearest eyepiece in that range is a 7 mm. Orion Ultrascopic. The views of Jupiter and Saturn are equally fine on both, but the Radian's eye relief and wide f.o.v. make the viewing so much more comfortable. This ep also is great on globular clusters. Light throughput seems equivalent to the Ultrascopic, both are excellent. I mentioned previously this was my first Radian, it won't be my last. Yes, they are on the expensive side, but you can pick yours up used like I did for $185.

I've had this ep for a couple of years, and I can't think of any shortcomings at all. I am absolutely 1000% satisified. The eye relief is a nice 20mm, it has a 60 degree f.o.v. and my best view ever of Jupiter was through this eyepiece.

Very sharp eyepiece. At 167x, Cassini division on Saturn an easy target. A few bands visible, as well as 3 or 4 moons. More detail is revealed in the Radian than in my Burgess/TMB Planetary.
