Well, my opinion is just the opposite to that of the previous poster. As usual "your mileage may vary".

I don´t like the 7 mm LV at all, and find it A BIT inferior to the 6.7 mm Meade S3000 plossl in contrast, and clearly inferior in sharpness. Not only that, it shows a fair amount of lateral colour at the field stop, something you don´t see in the S3000 plossl, even with 5 more degrees of AFOV.

BUT, the LV is an extremely nice, well finished eyepiece. Eye relief is magnificent, and visual comfort, simply perfect. The 6.7 S3000 is a pain in the butt to use. I think you COULD see MORE through de Meade plossl, but you won´t stay at the eyepiece as long as you would in a Vixen LV, waiting for that moment of perfect seeing. You´ll end up seeing more through the LV, but not because its optically better, but because it´s easier on the eye.

Ergonomics are important to eyepieces, and there the LV is superb. But, optically it´s not that great...

Want a relly comfortable, optically GREAT 7 mm planetary eyepiece? Get a 7.5 mm Tak LE and forget Radians...

In a word good and quite a noticable upgrade from a Meade 6.7 mm Plössl. The biggest improvement is not that much the sharpness but the contrast. Vixen LV7 provides much better contrast than the Plössl, which makes details better visible. Also there is very little to no ghosting on bright targets such as the gas giants. The long ER takes some getting used to but works good without too much blackouts. The EP is very well made as well. All in all Vixen LV7 is a nice introduction into the class of premium eyepieces at a very reasonable price, even by European standards.
