I bought Siebert Optics 11mm 2" Ultrawide eyepiece especially for digital camera imaging. I am able to obtain an image of Mars that is good enough to show slight surface detail in a single 1/500 sec unprocessed shot using a Canon G1 in TV mode.Images of Mars or any other celestial body appear very bright and extremely sharp.I pointed my telescope towards M31 and was surprised to see M33 in the outer edge of my field of view. There is one fault with this eyepiece.......The name Siebert Opitcs is not imprinted on it!I have placed an order for the 7mm 2" ultra wide eyepiece, but I have insisted that "Siebert Optics" should be imprinted on this eyepiece.

Harry Siebert Optics Ultra 11mm, 2 inch
This is a review of the two inch barrel 7mm, which Excelsis has not listed. I purchased this eyepiece for testing along with a number of other Siebert eyepieces. They were tested in the 2" drawtubes of a TeleVue TV-85 apo refractor (700 mm f9) and a Nextstar 11" SCT (2800mm f10) and compared with similar eyepieces.

The 7mm appears at first sight to be a very cheap eyepiece. In fact, it is a 1.25" eyepiece cemented into a 2" barrel with a small adapter cemented to the objective end to hold filters.

However, optically this eyepiece performed remarkably well. Images were very bright and contrasty - much brighter than in a Nagler 7mm, in fact - and star images were pinpoint almost to the edge of the field (which appeared to be about 50°.

One problem with the construction is that this eyepiece is a bit too wide for TeleVue drawtubes and the Everbright TV Diagonal - gets stuck fast in them, in fact. If you have a cheaper Meade accessory, well... suffice to say this lens will fit no problem.
