For a wide field 10x50 binocular commonly available for less than $150.00, the Bausch & Lomb 10x50 wide angle is not too bad. The images are fairly good on axis and to about 50 to 60% of the way from the field center. The image does break down from that point out. Additionally I find the eye relief to be a tad bit too short even in my case (without glasses). Like so many other binoculars, you really can not see the full field at one time. I would say the field is restricted about 1/2 to 3/4 of a degree because of the eyepiece - field stop geometry.

I would be disappointed in these if I were paying $300.00, considering the typical price and the competition, they are fairly serviceable at their price point.

Great to start in astronomy. Image is pretty good although some image degradation is noticeable around the edges. This is becomes prominent when the binocular is mounted (the picture is steady, so it can be inspected more carefully). On the brighter objects, like Jupiter, even when properly focused, and with the diopter set, a V pattern of spikes emerges on top of the disc. I suppose this could be due an error in the prisms or poorly mounted objective lens (perhaps too tight). Besides this the focusing knob has super smooth motion, although in lower temperatures, becomes rather difficult to turn (<0 deg. C). Note that this does not affect proper fousing, which is still obtainable. Bino is not too heavy, and can be hand-held for quite a while. Still, I would advise a mount. If you do not have a telescope, or a bino, this is an excelent choice. Legacy is sturdy, lightweight, compact and versatile to the extent that I carry them everywhere (don't think that I am a freak).

Good basic 10x50 binos. Some edge distortion but at 7.5 field of view the sweet spot is still pretty large.I dont seem to get the spikes on jupiter that others have mentioned, even tripod mounted.maybe i got lucky.Bak-4 prisms, nice green coatings and smooth focusing, pretty good for the price. The large field of view compared to most 10x50,s is kind of nice. P.S If the rp stands for roof prism,it is incorrect these are porro prism. DJ
