I called one time for some info on a TV scope and Roger was very nasty to me and kept trying to sell me another scope. I Will Never call them again!

As luck would have it I received an call from Nancy Tuthill telling me she "found" a solar filter for my scope. Since it took her 4 months to respond I ignored the call. She then emails me telling me they "built" one just for me and how did I want to pay for it. I replied to her telling her to check out this site to see what others think of the company. Never again with Tuthill.

Haven't delt with them since I bought my Ultima 8 from him in 97. Service was fair, spent the xtra for the "full check optically and mechanically". Was treated very rudely by him regarding a mix up on his and Celestron's part about a free DEC motor with the purchase of the scope that I took advantage of. I was sent two motors, he gave me a call a few days after I got a motor directly from Celestron. I got the distinct vibe that he felt I was somehow trying to con him out of a motor. Very rude, and when I asked about an RTV number, he said just to send the motor to him by whatever means. Even though it was only a few dollars, I felt this was NOT my responsibility. I told him I wanted to be reimbursed, and he said "ok". You know I took the time, effort, and money to send this product back to him after his screw up, and when I called to investigate my reimbursement, he told me he never agreed to pay for the shipping back to him and HUNG UP THE PHONE!!!! No way would I recommend him.

It's amazing that anybody buys anything from this guy. He has announced that he is in "semi-retirement." It's time to take the next step. His wife is really nice, but he is a "grumpy old man."

Mr Tuthill is getting very old very fast and is hard to deal with at times some of his products are a good investment some are just a money pit. Also the first time I went to his store I was very surprized to find out that he was selling products out of his house not a store. He also needs to invest in a new phone system and stop using a cordless phone one time I called and the battery went dead and I had to call back. Also he needs to get with the times and stop using the photo copier to make catalogs. The other people I have talked to their were much more helpfull.

Service was horrible. 20% surcharge for handling. Item ordered was packaged very poorly. Phone response to problem was rude and insulting. I'll never do business with them again.
