astigmatism in the center is likely from your own eye at large exit pupils.

astigmatism in the center is likely from your own eye at large exit pupils.

I received one of these a week ago for use with my 12 f/5 Dob.  The eyepiece I received is good, but not great in my book.  Mine displays internal reflection on bright objects like Sirius, requires a focuser extension tube to reach focus and a hint of astigmatism even on axis.  On the plus side, the field is very flat to the edge, eye relief is ample and overall it's a very comfortable eyepiece to use.  I haven't yet done a head to head with premium eyepieces (like the 27mm Panoptic, 14mm Meade UWA, 17mm Vixen Lanthanum Superwide, 21mm Pentax XL, etc.), but have concerns about transmission given the internal reflection in mine.  Of course, as you say, these are handmade, so maybe you got a good one and I got a less good one.
